OUR
ANIMAL AMBASSADORS
All the animals at ZOO TO YOU are TRUE
ambassadors.
They travel to schools to meet students and help us to teach about conservation.
They all have their own individual stories of how they came to be living
with us at ZOO TO YOU.
We are so lucky to share our lives with them and share them with others. If you would like
to help them, by contributing to their care or maybe send
them a toy please go to our donations page, and find out how you can help. |

David
Jackson
CEO
CONSERVATION AMBASSADORS
When not out with the animals on the road and doing
educational presentations David is busy keeping the business end together.
This company was started from a dream of David and Anita. David keeps everyone on track,
sticking to the original mission of Conservation Ambassadors. When things
need to be built around the facility David gets the job done! David
has a unique way with animals that shows in the deep bonds they have
with him. |

Melanie
Barton,
Facility Manager/Educator
WILDLIFE ON WHEELS
We should have known when she was a lion trainer in a play in preschool,
what career she would end up in. Melanie was a teacher working
with special needs children when she decided she needed to include
animals in her life. Two years later and a degree from Moorpark
College, Melanie combined her two loves Kids and Animals. Her
energy and great storytelling ability make every presentation an
adventure.

Angela
Boelk
Curator/Trainer
ZOO TO YOU
Graduating in 2004 from UW Platteville with a degree in Biology
and Psychology, Angela had every intention of working with marine
mammals from then on. Well as fate would have it, she is allergic
to fish. So she stuck it out with the marine mammals for a while
and then moved across the country a few times working at different
CAI locations. She is a trainer (and coach) through and through
and has very often been caught bridging staff for correctly bridging
and reinforcing the animals! If she’s not at the zoo you
can find her hanging out at a park or the beach with her husband
and son.

Katelyn
Cottle
Keeper
While getting her animal science degree at Cal poly
Katelyn started as an intern and quickly proved herself to be too valuable
to let go at the end of her internship. She works her way through school
already having her dream job! Now she gets to hang with the animals,
make diets, and scoop poop…but she wouldn’t trade one minute
of it! When not at school or the zoo, KC enjoys hanging with her friends
and her beautiful horse.

Amber
Jarrah
Keeper
From as young as she can remember she's been passionate
about having a hand in bettering the lives of animals. She went from
having pets, to volunteering at a Human Society and Adoption Fairs, to
working as a Veterinary Technician Assistant. It was then that she got
accepted to the Exotic Animal Training and Management program, delving
into exotic animals versus domestic. After graduating from the progam,
she sought her dream job, and found it! As a member of the Zoo To You
staff, the opportunites to work hands on with the animals never end.
She enjoys both hanging out with the animals on the compound, and bringing
the critters out to the public for them to enjoy!

Jana Blacksmith
Keeper
Over a decade ago Jana’s first experience with
Zoo to You was as an audience member at her elementary school right here
on the Central Coast. Since then, her desire to work with animals has
taken her all the way to Washington where she participated in an internship
at a wildlife rehabilitation center. Most recently she graduated from
Cal Poly with a degree in Animal Science and is now thrilled to be working
with Zoo to You. When she’s not working Jana is out exploring the
outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, and catching glimpses of bears and bobcats
in the wild!

Jennifer Lafountain
Supervisor
of Birds of Prey Area at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg
As a senior biology
student at James Madison University Jennifer took an ornithology course
as an elective with no real intention of making a career out of it.
However, after a year of waking up before any college student should
to search the forests of the Shenandoah Mountains for birds, she reconsidered!
In 2008, she joined the ZootoYou team at the Birds of Prey area at
Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, VA. Being a local to the area,
Jennifer has been coming to the park with her parents since she was
a child. She can remember quite a few times being dragged away from
the animal areas. Training and caring for the bald eagles, hawks, falcons,
and owls is truly a dream job. More importantly she now gets to educate
and excite children about animals just like she was.

forestry. While attending UT, she worked as an intern for research projects

bird species in Arkansas and Missouri. She has been living in Gloucester,
VA, since graduation. She worked for Zoo to You in Williamsburg, VA briefly
last year and just began working with them again in June. Her hobbies

Kevin Lockman
Intern (Keeper wanna-be)
From Chino Hills, a town in southern California
and is currently a fourth year student attending Cal Poly. Kevin is obtaining
a BS in Animal Science and upon graduation, and plans to attend veterinary
school. In the future, Kevin hopes to open his own exotic animal veterinary
hospital. Kevin’s interest for animals began at a young age; as
he grew up watching Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin. From that Kevin developed
a strong passion for exotic animals. This eventually lead to his desire
to become an exotic veterinarian. However animals are not my only interest.
In my free time I also enjoy hiking, playing soccer and ultimate frisbee. |
